Tips and Tricks for Managing Rosacea

Tips and Tricks for Managing Rosacea

Rosacea is a complicated and chronic skin condition with a series of symptoms and triggers that vary from person to person. And it is so frustrating! From redness, flushing and uneven skin texture, there is no cure for rosacea and it manifests in different ways. But in promising news, there are ways you can manage rosacea inflammation to minimise flare ups. Skin is reactive and requires some tlc. We believe in a holistic approach to treating rosacea.

Before we explore skincare treatments and lifestyle choices, it’s best to distinguish between redness and rosacea. While redness can be a symptom of Rosacea, not every person who has redness has Rosacea. If you believe you suffer from Rosacea, we recommend consulting with a dermatologist. Don’t self-diagnose! You may need medication and skincare is just one part of your treatment plan. There is often a strong genetic link so make sure to keep an eye out for symptoms if some of your family members have the condition.

While there is no miraculous cure, there are precautions you can take. Stress, alcohol, spicy food, sun exposure and wind can make symptoms worse. Makeup and harsh chemicals in skincare can also be disruptive and it’s best to only use cosmetics and products that are for sensitive skin.

Make the right lifestyle choices and limit wine and hot food and find what balance works for you. It’s a trial process. Exercise can cause a flare up so keep a diary of what type of exercise does not have an impact on your skin health. Always stay hydrated and limit your time in the sun as that’s a common trigger for Rosacea.

When it comes to skincare, we recommend using products that are gentle, anti-inflammatory and hydrating. A very simple approach is best. See what we recommend below:

CLEANSE

We recommend our Gentle Cleanser as it is formulated with super hydrating and anti-inflammatory nutrients derived from beetroot extract, blue green algae and hyaluronic acid, providing the ultimate purifying experience. It is effective and can be used daily.

ACTIVATE

Supporting and nurturing the skin’s natural renewal cycle, our Antioxidant Serum reduces redness and has collagen boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Continued use morning and night improves skin tone and texture and provides a visible lifting & firming effect. It contains Pure Complexion Actives which is a combination of plant oils including black cumin oil, chaulmoogra oil, magnolia oil and manuka oil that work to help purify the appearance of the skin for a clearer complexion.

HYDRATE

To nourish and condition Rosacea prone skin, we recommend our intensive Dry Skin Moisturiser which contains a blend of organic Shea Butter, Jojoba, Olive, Sunflower and Avocado Oil. This moisturiser locks in moisture and promote supple and smooth skin and treats dry patches.

For extra hydration, our Enzymatic Mask is a must have for evenings! When you cannot use actives, the enzymatic formula effectively treats flaky skin. This mask infuses skin with a rich hydrating formula that is ultra-conditioning, anti-inflammatory and rejuvenating. Using super enzymatic action, it resurfaces and revitalises skin to improve tone and texture. It gently exfoliates while repairing damaged skin cells with strengthening amino acids. This masque is suitable for all skin types and is used to treat rosacea prone skin. You can use this alone or mix it with our Dry Skin Moisturiser for a more intensive moisture boost.

PROTECT

Don’t forget our UV Defiance SPF 50+ lotion. Our SPF is lightweight, fast absorbing, fragrance free with no preservatives. It is a hydrating lotion with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E and is suitable for those with sensitive skin and of course, Rosacea.

If you are experiencing a flare up, we suggest our Recovery Cream to soothe skin. The Recovery Cream is infused with avocado oil and calms inflammation, irritated and dry skin. With the restorative benefits of Hyaluronic Acid and antioxidants, it is a versatile cream with an anti-bacterial formula that targets skin concerns such as dehydration and skin conditions including rosacea, eczema and psoriasis.
