Transitioning your Routine from Spring to Summer

Transitioning your Routine from Spring to Summer

Adapting your skincare routine to ensure your skin remains healthy and glowing throughout the summer months is essential. The transition from spring to summer can bring about significant shifts in weather conditions, which can affect your skin.

In this blog, we’ll discuss the weather changes and their impact on your skin, recommend adjustments in cleansing, moisturising, and SPF, and introduce you to some fantastic products from the Balense range that are perfect for this transition.

Understanding the Effects of Weather Changes on Your Skin

Before diving into the adjustments for your summer skincare routine, it’s essential to understand how the shift in weather conditions can impact your skin

  • Increased Humidity: Summer is often associated with higher humidity levels. This can lead to increased oil production in your skin, making it feel greasier and potentially leading to breakouts.
  • UV Exposure: The sun’s UV rays are more intense during the summer months, leading to sunburn, premature skin aging, and an increased risk of skin cancer if adequate protection isn’t applied.
  • Sweating: Hot temperatures lead to increased sweating, which can clog pores and exacerbate skin issues like acne.
  • Dehydration: Heat and sun exposure can dehydrate your skin through trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), leading to dryness and increased sensitivity.

Adjusting Your Skincare Routine

Cleansing:

  • Switch to a lightweight, gel-based cleanser to remove excess oil and impurities.
  • Consider using a gentle exfoliator 2-3 times a week to keep your skin fresh and prevent congestion.

We recommend:

Daily Gentle Cleanser: This gentle, sulfate-free cleanser effectively removes impurities without over-drying your skin, making it perfect for daily use in summer.

Micro Exfoliant: A nourishing micro exfoliant, this cleanser targets skin impurities and improves tone and texture. Gently remove dead skin cells while skin is infused with hydrating anti-inflammatory nutrients to reveal a clear and calm complexion.

Moisturising:

  • Opt for a lightweight, oil-free moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated without feeling heavy.

Brightening Moisturiser +HAX5: Rejuvenate your skin with our potent Brightening Moisturiser, which helps diminish the appearance of visible pigmentation and age spots. With soothing benefits, skin tone and texture can improve after continued use. This moisturiser gently resurfaces skin and helps prevent the formation of new age spots.

SPF Protection:

  • Invest in a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
  • Apply your sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you’re outdoors, and always reapply after swimming, exercising and towel drying.
  • Remember to wear a sun hat and protective clothing as well for extra sun protection.

We recommend:

 Balense® UV Defiance SPF 50

Balense® UV Defiance SPF50: Our SPF is lightweight, fast absorbing and non-ghosting. Fragrance free with no preservatives, it is a hydrating lotion with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E and is suitable for children and all skin types. Daily use helps prevent premature skin ageing and the affects of UV damage including, sunspots, pigmentation and the long-term harms of sun exposure.

With the right adjustments in cleansing, moisturising, and SPF protection, you can enjoy the summer season while maintaining beautiful, glowing skin. Stay safe and enjoy the sun!
